This weekend I went to a friend-of-a-friend's lake house, where I learned that it is possible to decorate and outfit an entire house with Texas-themed items. We ate off of Texas plates and drank out of Texas cups and glasses. To get in the shower, I pushed aside the Texas shower curtain. Used Texas towels (both bath and dish). Turned on fans and lights with Texas fan-pulls. Slept under a Texas quilt, stepped on Texas rugs, removed food from the oven with Texas pot holders, opened beer with Texas opener, rested glasses on Texas coasters on Texas furniture. I could go on, but I think you get the idea. The only incongruous item was a shelf shaped like Tennessee with a little Scottish bagpiper on it. Do other places do this? Is there a lake house in Delaware decorated only with Delaware-related items? I'm thinking no.
