When country wasn't cool

If you’re like most people, you’ve wondered, “Whatever happened to Barbarba Mandrell and the Mandrell Sisters?” I’ve done some investigations on the internets on this matter.

Barbara

Barbara retired from singing in 1990. She was on Walker, Texas Ranger. She has endorsed Sunsweet Prunes, No-N
onsense Pantyhose and Blue Bonnet Margarine Sticks. Her favorite holiday is Easter.

In 1999 her signature was engraved on a gold metal that came with a $1750 air pistol. (“Now you can enjoy the pleasure of precision shooting in your living room, den, or basement.”)

At the Mandrell family Thanksgiving in 2000, Barbara’s mother made a pumpkin pie using Nutra Sweet instead of sugar. It was very good.

She is available to speak at your next corporate event or conference.

Louise

Louise was on Battle of the Network Stars. She wrote a series of children’s books about holidays.

Louise had her own show in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. This now-closed spectacular is described on its website . . . “From the opening number - in which Louise sails in on a star with her name blazing in lights across the curtain - to the dizzying and spectacular finale, this real-life star draws you into her world and plays the ever-accommodating host as you sit back and marvel at what unfolds on stage . . . The hard
-driving number ‘I Need A Hero’ brings a misty-eyed audience to its feet and segues into a stirring re-creation of the flag-raising scene at Ground Zero.”

Louise Mandrell does not leave the stage until she has given you her heart.

Irlene

Irlene released the concept album Texercise in 1983. It was the first country-western exercise program designed to condition, firm, and work your cardiovascular system. Exercises included "The Thighs of Texas," "The Big Bend," and "The Saddle Bag Stomp."

Now Irlene is shooting for charity. The 2007 Irlene Mandrell Celebrity Shoot will feature celebrities like Jerry Mathers, a man who portrays a golfer in a Master Card commercial, and a famous knife maker.

One fan site notes that, “Not only does Irlene love her family tremendously, she also loves all God's creatures, especially Maltese puppies.”

Once again, your tireless research opens up areas of knowledge others may not have known even existed.

A Nobel prize cannot be too far away.

. . . Which can't be good for her, at her age.

Whoa! Barbara did not retire from singing in 1990. She was singing for most of the nineties. Her last show was in October 1997 and was called The Last Dance and this later aired as a TV special in 1998.
